Flutterby Butterflies

Hiya. How is everyone?

Today I'll share with you the step by steps to the card I demo-ed on Create and Craft on 23/7/22. I love butterflies and when they are made from parchment paper they simply look gorgeous and delicate. Add glitter on them and you have little flying bundles of joy sprinkling sparkles and magic around the world. I think my blog name pretty much sums up how much I like butterflies and glitter! Lol

Here is the finished card we will work towards in the blog tutorial ...

Groovi Plates:
Deluxe Groovi Plate Starter Kit + Butterfly Wreath A5 Square Plate  GRO-SK-40709-XX
Nested Squares Picot Cut Die Set & Groovi Plate  ACC-DI-30698-66
Tina's Butterfly Petites Collection A6 Square Groovi Baby Plate Set  GRO-AN-41151-01
Mini Straight & Diagonal Basic Bold A6 Square Groovi Piercing Grids  GRO-GG-41099-23

NOTE:
All the embossing on this project is done on the back.
The colouring on this project is done on the back.
All the perforating and cutting on this project are done from the front.

Step 1: Die cut the 4th largest nested picot square on rainbow parchment paper (I've used Rose Garden) using the Nested Squares Picot dies. Before cutting, make sure you have placed the die with the cutting side down on the softer matt side facing up of the rainbow parchment.
With the glossy brighter side facing up (this is the back of the work), emboss the double square outlines from the corresponding Nested Picot Squares Groovi plate using the Groovi No.1 tool (or Pergamano 1mm embossing ball tool).

Step 2: From the Butterfly Flowers plate in the Tina's Butterfly Petites Collectionemboss butterfly and scallops in the corner of the square using the Groovi No.1 tool (or Pergamano 1mm embossing ball tool). Repeat in the other 3 corners.

Step 3: In the centre of the square, from the Butterfly Papillon plate in the Tina's Butterfly Petites Collection, emboss the butterfly - the circles on the stems using the Groovi No.2 tool (or Pergamano 1.5mm embossing ball tool) and the rest of the line art using the  Groovi No.1 tool (or Pergamano 1mm embossing ball tool).

Step 4: From the Butterfly Corners plate in the Tina's Butterfly Petites Collectionemboss one side of the corner detail trailing out from the heart using the Groovi No.2 tool (or Pergamano 1.5mm embossing ball tool) for the circles and the rest of the remaining line art using the  Groovi No.1 tool (or Pergamano 1mm embossing ball tool).
Repeat on the other 3 sides.

Step 5: Decide which side of the butterfly wings you would like as the 3D element. On clear parchment, from the Butterfly Papillon plate in the Tina's Butterfly Petites Collectionemboss the half side of the wing and the 2 flowers that make up the butterfly body In the centre of the square,  - the circles on the stems using the Groovi No.2 tool (or Pergamano 1.5mm embossing ball tool) and the rest of the line art using the  Groovi No.1 tool (or Pergamano 1mm embossing ball tool).

Step 6: On the rainbow parchment piece, over the basic diagonal grid from the Mini Straight & Diagonal Basic Bold Piercing Grid set, emboss dots in the corner designs using the Groovi No.2 tool (or Pergamano 1.5mm embossing ball tool).
Repeat in the other 3 corners.

Step 7: Over the basic straight grid from the Mini Straight & Diagonal Basic Bold Piercing Grid set, emboss dots around the heart. To do this, using the Groovi No.2 tool (or Pergamano 1.5mm embossing ball tool), emboss a dot. Keep the ball tool on the dot and swivel the parchment slightly so the next hole on the grid is close to the embossed line and emboss a dot over that hole. Repeat all the way around the design.
Repeat on the other 3 corners.

Step 8: Using the Groovi No.3 and No.4 tools (or Pergamano 1.5mm and 3mm embossing ball tools) emboss gently inside circles starting with the largest ball tool and remembering to let the parchment rest between layers. I have embossed 4 layers on these circles.

Step 9: Still working on the back, colour using Perga Colours Exclusive pens.

Step 10: Repeat steps 8 and 9 on the clear parchment piece.

Step 11: From the front, over the super foam, using Pergamano bold 2-needle perforating tool, perforate in the butterfly wings in the corners and in the sections of the trellis.

Step 12: Picot cut between all the perforations making sure the scissors are over the waste when you cut.

To Finish: Add as much or as little (or none) Perga glitter as you wish.
Using the Nested Squares Picot Diescut the 3rd largest nested picot squares from corresponding Rainbow Paper.
Mount the 3D butterfly wing on the rainbow parchment and the rainbow paper using brads.
Stick this on folded white card.

I look forward to seeing your flutterby butterflies using these plates and hope you have as much fun as I do whenever I am making butterflies.
