Pretty Floral Spray

Hiya. How are you? Those who follow me on FB, Instagram and Pinterest have seen photos of day to day art journaling that  I have been doing for the last 15 days created with the prompts from a daily journaling course with Kasia Avery from Everything-Art. Yesterday was the last day of the class. It has been an amazing journey, very therapeutic, learnt so much and had so much fun working with a limited number of materials and colours for the full 15 days. I have enjoyed it so much that I joined https://www.everything-art.com's Kaisa's Advent Calendar class and Wanderlust 2020 for more journaling help, tips, techniques, and so I do set that time aside for me. And if that wasn’t enough to start with, I also enrolled on the Willowing Arts Life Book 2020 course at https://www.willowing.org/product/life-book-2020/. Next year, for me, is going to be a year to learn lots of new things that I have been wanting to for years. These online workshops work great for me as I can’t get out and about much so this way I can still keep learning.

Back to Groovi, here is the other card I had created using the Floral Spray Groovi Plate that Barbara and Paul showcased on Hochanda on yesterday ...

Groovi Plates and Fresh Cut Dies used:
Calligraphy Alphabet A5 Groovi Plate Mate - GRO-MA-40517-08
Nested Scallops Rectangles A5 Groovi Plate - GRO-PA-40587-04
Nested Squares Extension & Alphabet Frame A4 Square Groovi Plate - GR-WO-40538-15
Tina's Floral Spray & Floral Flutterby A6 Groovi Plate Set + Spacer - GRO-FL-41413-02

All the embossing and colouring has been done on the back and all the perforating and picot cutting has been done on the front.

1.) Normally I start with my frame but I wasn't sure where I was going to go with this one so I started on A4 regular parchment so I had plenty of space to work around my design. I started with embossing the floral design from the Floral Spray Groovi Plate using a Groovi No.1 embossing tool (or Pergamano 1mm embossing tool).

2.) Emboss the 4th from outside double rectangle outlines from the Nested Scallops Rectangles Groovi plate, remembering to skip the areas where the leaves have been embossed.

3.) Emboss the 3rd from outside double square outlines and scallops from the Nested Squares Extension Groovi Plate.

4.) Emboss the greeting from the Nested Squares Extension Groovi Plate.

5.) Emboss the flutterby from the Floral Flutterby Groovi Plate.

6.) Colour on the back using Perga Liner B pencils and blend with Dorso oil using blending nibs.

7.) From the front, perforate using the bold 2-needle tool inside and outside the scallops and picot cut between the perforations.

8.) To finish, mount the parchment piece to Great Lakes designer paper using brads through the and stick this on folded white card. Add a bit (or a lot) of sparkle on the design using Pergamano sticky ink, mapping pen and Perga Glitter.

Parchment and Gilding Flakes

Good morning everyone. Hope everyone is well. The new Floral Spray stamps, stencil, and Groovi plates with Barbara and Paul are on today on Hochanda at 11am and 2pm. I am in love with these and am so pleased I doodled this. They are so much fun to use, especially if you are looking to create something beautiful and quick because I think the design does all the work for us.

I have been wanting to play with gilding flakes on parchment for ages and finally got round to using it day before yesterday. I am addicted! I decided to do a tag to keep it simple, in case things didn't quite work out as I planned! But then when it worked out, I put the tag on a card. It is a very simple card and I just let the design and gilding flakes do the work for me.

Groovi Plates and Fresh Cut Dies used:
Nested Squares Picot Cut Die Set & Groovi Plate - ACC-DI-30698-66
Calligraphy Alphabet A5 Groovi Plate Mate - GRO-MA-40517-08
Nested Tags A5 Groovi Plate - GRO-PA-40654-04
Nested Squares Extension & Alphabet Frame A4 Square Groovi Plate - GR-WO-40538-15
Tina's Floral Spray A6 Groovi Plate - GRO-FL-41401-02

1.) Emboss the largest tag from the Nested Tags Groovi Plate on the black parchment using the Groovi No.1 embossing tool or the Pergamano 1mm embossing tool. The glossy side will be the back of the work so this is the side to emboss on. This way the front, matt side, will show the embossing as white.

2.) Emboss the floral design from the Floral Spray Groovi Plate.

3.) Using the Pergamano sticky ink and mapping pen, on the front, fill in the areas you want to add the gilding flakes. The glossy shiny parts on the photo is where I have added the sticky ink.

4.) Let the sticky ink go clear and add the gilding flakes.

5.) With your finger, gently rub the excess off and put back in the pot. This is a good time not to sneeze!!! Also make sure your hand is dry and you have no lotion on. Cut out the tag (or use the 2-needle peforating tool and picot cut around the tag).

6.) Tear a bit of regular parchment larger than the tag.

7.) Picot cut on black parchment the 2nd from outside square using the Nested Squares Picot Cut Die and emboss the double square outlines from the corresponding Nested Squares Picot Cut Groovi Plate.

8.) Emboss the greeting. Add gilding flakes between the double square outlines, as above on the tag,

9.) To finish, stick the pieces on to white and black card and stick this on folded white card. I added glue dots to the card and put gilding flakes on them. I have to admit I preferred it without the glue dots but I was playing and wanted to see what it would look like.

Here are photos of other creations I have created using the Floral Spray Groovi Plates, stamps and stencil during my play session.

I hope you like this design and if you have purchased them, I hope you enjoy using them as much as I have loved playing with them. I look forward to seeing everyone's creations using these.

1.) Picot cut the 2nd from outside square using the nested squares picot cut die and emboss the corresponding double square outlines from the corresponding Groovi plate.

2.) Emboss the inner square border from the Christmas Rose plate and the lace design at the bottom of the square.

3.) Emboss the rest of the design from Christmas Centrepiece plate.

4.) Emboss inside the little circles and leaves.

5.) Colour on the back using Perga Liner B pencils and blend with Dorso oil using blending nibs.

6.) From the front perforate using the bold 2-needle tool in the circles around the oval and in the lace design.

Christmas Tree and Bauble Rocker Card

Good afternoon. How is everyone? It had been a while since I was on Hochanda last. I had gone to my sister's for a month's break with my mum and kids. It is always so nice to have some family time when all of us get together and bond. I spent my month there pretty much eating lots of cake, crisps and everything else that tasted amazing because of the added artificial flavour enhancers (yes, the one that are bad for us). Now I'm back, I'm desperately trying to shake of the bad eating habits I developed ... Definitely not an easy task!!!

Thank you so much to everyone for tuning in to the shows on Hochanda yesterday, everyone at ClarityStamp headquarters, Hochanda headquarters and the amazingly talented design team. The design team create magic with the designs that get sent to them and bring the art work to life and show us so many inspirational ideas. We cannot thank them enough for their commitment and the hours of work that they put into creating the samples.

This time round I remembered to take photos of the step by steps of the 2 cards. I'll start with the rocker card that I demo-ed on the 11am show yesterday and then in a couple of days do the instructions for the square card.

Groovi Plates and Fresh Cut Dies used:
Nested Circles Picot Cut Die Set - ACC-DI-30680-66
Tina's Turtle Doves - GRO-CH-41294-03
Tina's Christmas Tree and Baubles - GRO-CH-41293-03

All the embossing and colouring has been done on the back and all the perforating and picot cutting has been done on the front.

1.) Cut the second from outside circle on Great Lakes designer paper using the Nested Circles Picot Cut die. Fold it in half to create a base for the parchment piece.

2.) Using the folded designer paper as a guide to see how much of the scallops edge you need to emboss from the Turtle Doves plate, emboss the large circle and the scallops using the Pergamano 1mm embossing ball tool (or Groovi No.1) and the circles in the scallops and the hearts with the Pergamano 1.5mm embossing ball tool (or Groovi No.2). Draw where fold line will be using a white pencil and ruler.

3.) Emboss the design from the Christmas Tree and Baubles plate inside the circle, keeping the fold line parallel to the straight lines on the plate. The circles and little stars in the bauble are embossed with the Pergamano 1.5mm embossing ball tool (or Groovi No.2) and the rest of the design with Pergamano 1mm embossing ball tool (or Groovi No.1).

4.) Emboss inside all the little circles, stars and hearts.

5.) Colour on the back using Perga Liner B pencils and blend with Dorso oil using blending nibs. From the front perforate using the bold 2-needle tool outside the scallops design, inside the bauble ribbons and inside the leaves under the tree. Also perforate around the tree, star and bauble ribbon upto the white fold line (Do not perforate along the fold line). Using a cutting knife over a cutting mat or scissors cut about a cm above the fold line up to the tree on one side and the bauble ribbon on the other side.

6.) Picot cut between all the perforations. Fold along the fold lines to create flaps that are used to stick the parchment to the back of the folded picot cut circle designer paper using double sided tape.

7.) To finish, Add a bit of sparkle on the circles, stars and hearts using sticky ink, mapping pen and Perga glitter.

Growing a Snowflake

Good morning. How's everyone? It's a bit odd doing snowflakes in summer but I love them so I'm absolutely enjoying this journey go growing snowflakes in July. I love Christmas and as much as it sounds weird to make Christmas cards 'so early' in the year it is something I enjoy doing. A lot of us make our Christmas cards for our friends and families and a lot of them are parchment cards which take a little bit longer to make so an early-ish start is good.

This is one of my snowflakes that grew while I was playing with the snowflake duet plates.

Here is the photo step by step of growing a snowflake from one of the snowflakes from the Snowflakes Duets Collection A5 Square Groovi Plate and Grid set (GRO-WI-41286-03). The embossed dots are done on the back with the Pergamano 1.5mm embossing tool (or Groovi No.2 tool) and the perforating is done on the front using the bold 1-Needle perforating tool.

1.) To start my snowflake I embossed the dots of the top right snowflake (under the word Groovi read right way up on the plate) from the Large Snowflake Grid plate.

2.) Take the parchment off the snowflake grid and stick it on to the Diagonal Basic Grid (GRO-GG-40201-12) so the embossed dots slide/fit into the holes of the diagonal grid. Start extending dots from the section between the arms of the snowflake. Repeat between each section.

3.) Emboss dots extending out from the arms of the snowflake.

4.) Remove the parchment from the grid, turn over to the front and realign the dots on the grid before sticking it and perforate inside and outside the embossed dots.

5.) Picot cut between all the perforations.

Here are some more snowflake examples, small one and grown ones, that my baby girl helped me with and turned them into Christmas tree or wall hangings.

Hope this blog piece is useful and makes sense. Looking forward to seeing lots of snowflakes everyone creates. All the Groovi plates and products are available from https://claritystamp.com.

Enjoy. Take Care.
